Dorsets: Officer Portraits

Lt. AKD George, wounded 9th Sept 1914 at the Battle of the Marne, died of wounds 17th Sept, with our hosts in our first billet in France. The Cure and his sister. Billeted at Ors near Le Cateau from 17th – 20th August.

The annotation on the back reads: This photo was taken by the 'Maps' man of Third Army Hd. Qrs. while he was engaged on taking a series of panorama photos of the enemy's trenches. The trench is one taken over from the French and improved by British sandbags. Taken about Sept. 1915.

Most of these photos were taken by Captain R.E. Partridge, M.C. of D Company, 1st Battalion Dorset Regiment. These were presented to the Dorset Regimental Museum in February 1965.
