Photo no.20 of 55 photos taken by Captain R.E. Partridge, M.C. of D Company, 1st Battalion Dorset Regiment. These were presented to the Dorset Regimental Museum in February 1965.

  1. The description of the photo says its “Two of the men in D Company…” The excerpt in the box says it was taken by Capt. R.E Partridge, M.C of D Company, 1st Battalion Dorset Regiment. If this is correct, then there may be a case of mistaken identity for Pvt. Cecil William Hardy, 3/7347. According to the Army numbering system (on the attached link), Pvt. Hard would belong to 3rd Battalion Special Reserve.

    1. This is a little confusing, and I don’t know who is correct here, you or Lee Hall – see previous comment. I can only go on the annotation that my grandfather added to this photo: “Two of the men in D Company writing letters home.” Can anyone explain this discrepancy?
