Letter from Canadian Prime Minister

Letter from Prime Minister of Canada

Major Partridge was attached to the 12th Canadian Infantry Brigade [dates unverified, but spanned 1916-1917]. He was mentioned in Dispatches and awarded a Brevet Majority [Edinburgh Gazette 1st January 1917]. He chose this instead of a DSO when offered the choice by his Brigadier.

I have just found a photo album belonging to my great-grandfather, SRB Partridge, with a clipping from the Tatler November 11th 1914. It uses the same photo but has all the officers numbered, named and with their current status: wounded, killed, etc.

My grandfather, Lieutenant Partridge, is listed as killed, with a handwritten note saying: “error”. This must have been quite difficult for the family at the time as they had lost their other two remaining sons, Captain Charles Burnett Partridge, and Lieutenant Geoffrey Dorman Partridge on the 1st and 3rd November respectively.
